Concerning Jim & The Bakery
About Jim
For the past 5 years, I've been photographing everything about the music industry. At club shows, theaters, festivals, studio sessions, house parties. Of bands, DJs, producers, light shows, the crew, crowds. Backstage, onstage, in the pit, in the balcony, above the stage. For publications, album art, promotion, books, and for pure pleasure.
On The Origins Of Photo Bakery
My grandfather on my mother's side - Andrew Kay, on the far right - was the last in a very long line of bakers in Scotland. The picture at left shows him as a young man, just before emigrating to the US. For many generations prior to his, men in my family were bakers. While my craft is photography, I like my ties to the importance of handcrafting one's work and to making a tasty product for my clients.
Yep, music, but also...
While I focus on music primarily, I also shoot a great deal more. Parades, 10k runs, the occasional wedding, mountains & hiking, lots of travel, and often food. And my family. I happily indulge in a decently broad swath of photography.
I don't actually do many weddings.
Black Rapid Ambassador
I am proud to be a friend of Black Rapid and to beta test new products. The folks there make the best camera straps on the market, bar none. I fell in love with the double strap for carrying my 2 Nikon D700's, and use it for every field gig I shoot. Check out my submissions on the BR site over the coming months.
